Daniel: Determined not to Defile himself
Daniel 1:8 (NIV)
*But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way
If you know what is true, do not let someone or something to take that away from you.
Early on his life, David taught himself not to defile himself.
Daniel: Determined to Honor God
Daniel 2: 46-47
When Daniel finished, King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face in awe before Daniel. He ordered the offering of sacrifices and burning of incense in Daniel's honor. He said to Daniel, "Your God is beyond question the God of all gods, the Master of all kings. And he solves all mysteries, I know, because you solved this mystery"
When you honor God, God will also honor you. In everything you do, live a life that honors God. We are free to do a lot of things, and sometimes we forget because of this freedom. But Daniel did not. He honored God despite the limitations of his freedom.
Daniel's Friends: Determined to serve God ONLY
Daniel 3: 16-17
Shadrach, Mesacg and Abednego replied to him, "King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty's hand.
CHRIST IS MY VICTOR!!!
In the time of Nero, Christians were burnt alive but while they burn, they shout "Christ is my victor"
In other countries, they are greatly persecuted but here in the Philippines we have great freedom, yet, we take it for granted.
Daniel: Determined to Worship God and Him alone
Daniel 6:10
Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.
Worship is a lifestyle! If you want great things to happen in your life then don't defile yourself. Focus your attention to God and God alone.
Daniel decided to worship God and God alone. He did not allow temptation of power to fail his focus.

*Did not allow temptation of good life, acceptance, power and fame to deter his focus
*Trusted God in everything
